Take the Reading Without Walls BINGO Challenge this Summer with Branches Books!
Reading Without Walls is happening now, and anyone can participate — teachers, librarians, book-sellers, and readers. Just find something new and different to read — and let books open up the world around you.
What can YOU do to read without walls?
This summer's reading program is to celebrate reading and diversity by challenging children nationwide to read a book about a character who doesn’t look or live like them; read a book about a topic they don’t know much about; and/or read a book in a format that they don’t normally read for fun. The program will run from Monday, June 12th - Tuesday, August 1st. Prizes will include stickers, bookmarks, gift cards and much more! Completed bingo cards will go into a drawing for prizes and gift cards to Branches Books and local businesses. The local school with the most entries will win a $250 gift card for their library!
Bingo cards can be printed HERE or will be available at Branches Books beginning June 5th. Good luck and happy reading!!!
Once you’ve finished reading, complete the challenge by challenging someone else! Use #ReadingWithoutWalls to tell all of your friends on social media what books you chose and challenge them to do the same.
National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Gene Luen Yang calls us all to READ WITHOUT WALLS, exploring books about characters who look or live differently than you, topics you haven’t discovered, or formats that you haven’t tried.
READING WITHOUT WALLS will promote diversity and open readers’ eyes to new ideas and experiences. In this divided time in our nation’s history, READING WITHOUT WALLS is an inclusive way to spread appreciation and understanding for others — and to learn new and exciting things.
