In Love With Romance
From a humble beginning in Newark, New Jersey, a short stay at a convent in Morristown, N.J. at the age of fourteen, I retired from a fantastic career for a play broadcasting company in Carlsbad, California. I settled in the rural foothills of the Sierras of Yosemite National Park with my ever supportive husband, Ron, and two dogs, Silky and Sophie. I traded in the Board Rooms for the Ballrooms of the Regency Era and never looked back.
At the age of fifteen, I wrote my first book. Since then I've always traveled with pen and notebook ready to capture a special word or phase. It’s been the journey of ten thousand miles with a few steps left to go. Decades later, it was a reward I gave to myself when I left the corporate world behind.

Sunny Marie Baker – Author Bio
I’ve been writing since I could hold a pencil in my hand and form letters into words. Being an only child, I had many imaginary friends, and they became the characters in the childhood stories I wrote. Today, my characters still come alive without any instruction. I do my best to keep up with them while they do what they do, and get it all written down in the pages of my books.
Author: The Long Dark Cloak
About My Book:
My young adult fantasy novel, The Long Dark Cloak, is about a thirteen-year-old Ivan, who searches for his older brother in a mystical forest. He half-heartedly agrees to undertake a mission of mercy to save the life of Zephyrus, an ancient Kingwood Oak (pictured on the cover). A wise and kindly spirit imbued in the Long Dark Cloak guides the lad on his journey where he encounters strange and sometimes dangerous creatures that hinder him. When war is declared, Ivan becomes a reluctant hero, fighting to save the forest as well as his own life. When he finds his brother, he asks himself if Peter is the person he remembered.
About the Cover
Since Vicki is an artist, as well as an author, she felt she compelled to design and paint the cover. If she didn’t, her artist friends would certainly harass her for her negligence. The tree in her story is fashioned after a famous oak tree in The New Forest of Southern England (where her story takes place), called the Queen. While it is the biggest tree standing there, it comes short of Vicki’s vision of Zephyrus, a huge Kingwood Oak, Master and Peacekeeper of the forest.
About the Author
Born in Wisconsin, Vicki graduated from The Minneapolis College of Art and Design, spending a year at The Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, Holland, along with some extensive traveling. She started a fashion illustration business in Los Angeles, advertising the new seasons’ fashions. Seventeen years later, she stepped away from the fashion field, married her long time (and patient) sweetheart, began fine art painting and teaching watercolor. A decade ago, writing fantasy for young people struck her like lightening. Her passion for writing and plotting the fantasy in her head drove her to produce seven (hand-written) books, which she is now rewriting and editing. The Long Dark Cloak is the first book in this series, with six more to follow.
